Order fulfillment is the more common application for automatic sortation. GBI provides a vast array of sortation methodologies depending on individual order make-up.
Order Fulfillment
Methodologies range from a wave or batch sort for order profiles with large unit quantities per order to a continuous sort routine that automatically assigns chutes as soon as they become available (sometimes employing a primary and secondary sort) such as for E-Commerce.
Sort algorithms may include various order distribution models such as first come first served and round robin as well as complex decisions based on inventory availability, order priority, alternate sort points for high volume orders or locations, conditional routing and others.
